I was abandoned by a member of staff who I asked for help at a London tube station when it was dark during rush hour.

I am still struggling to understand why I was abandoned by a member of staff at a London tube station during Friday rush hour.

I travelled to the MRQ Masters snooker at Alexandra Palace last Friday (12th of January) using the capital’s public transport network.

I arrived back Finsbury Park station at around 5pm on Friday evening and asked a member of staff who was located at the ticket barriers to help me board a train to Kings Cross station.

I was however only escorted to a lift that was near to the barriers where I was forced to watch the member of staff walk away from me and I didn’t see them again which I found both quite shocking and very distressing because I was not sure where I was in London or how I needed to get back to Kings Cross station.

I genuinely thought that the staff member in question was going to stay with me, a vulnerable wheelchair user until I had boarded a tube as I was travelling alone across the capital, but he didn’t.

I had only ever used London’s transport network independently once before and I don’t want to ever again after this experience because it was actually quite scary.

My message to Transport For London (TFL) is a simple one, do you think that it is acceptable for your staff to effectively abandon a vulnerable disabled person at one of your stations when they have asked for assistance, especially when it is dark during rushhour.

The simple answer is no it is not acceptable at all and it shouldn’t be allowed to happen again on your network.

I know that this a quite a short and to the point blog but I feel that it is important to share this experience with you my readers and followers.
